I Can’t Get to my Picasa Web Albums!

slideshowI’ve written several articles in this PicasaTutorials website about the transition we are undergoing between Picasa Web Albums and Google Plus Photos.  Although Google + Photos has added many new features and is quite impressive these days, there is one feature it still lacks and that is the ability to embed a slideshow of your pictures into your blog post or website.

This previous post tells you how to use the Picasa Web Albums interface to embed a slideshow, but the problem is that when you try to go to www.PicasaWeb.Google.com (the address for your Picasa Web Albums,) you are automatically redirected to Google + Photos.  And, there is no command for embed slideshow anywhere to be found.

If you look carefully at your Google+ Photos screen, you will see a message to “Click here to go back to Picasa Web Albums.”  It does exactly what it says and deposits you at the Picasa Web Albums interface to all your pictures.  There you will find the ‘”Embed Slideshow” link as directed in this previous article.

If you don’t see that yellow box with the link, then try adding the no redirect option to your Picasa Web Album URL.  Just click here:

    1. Hey Bob – try Fritz’s suggestion and go to picasaweb.google.com/?noredirect=1
Realize you must be logged into your google account before entering that url.

good to hear from someone at that Picasa seminar via Skype. We’re still working on perfecting the delivery over Skype. We will be doing more of them.

  2. Hi Chris,
I haven’t found a way to embed an image either from Google +. Not very helpful when I’m doing my blog posts. Do you think they’ll add these features?

    1. Hey Diane!
First of all – when you’re using Blogger, just select the insert image option of Picasa Web Albums – that’s the same as Google+ Photos – it will take you right there. To embed in other web-pages, I right-cick on the fullsize image in Google+ photos and find an option to copy image URL.
Did Jim tell you we’re headed your way in May?

      1. Hello, I trying desperately to fix a problem. I use Picasa Web Albums to make slideshows that I add to my blog. It started with the NOV. 1-Golina slideshow on the right side of my blog. Now when I make an album I keep getting a Redirecting this album” signal and my album doesn’t show up in Picasa. I’ve read several explanations for this but how do I make a one time change in Picasa or Google so it doesn’t keep happening. I would very much appreciate a step by step procedurę to fix this. It’s frustrating when my readers tell me they can’t view the slideshow but I can on my computer. I don’t use Google+, only Google Chrome, IE11 or Firefox. Please answer this.
        Thank you,
        David Piekarczyk

  4. The main thing to use to get back to PicasaWeb is the 21 digit number.

    So,
    This URL … https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/110942387986527021652/albums

    Can become this URL…

    https://picasaweb.google.com/110942387986527021652

I just copy the number and past it at the end of the picasaweb.google.com URL. I use PW in the classroom with a bunch of students and prefer the PW link.

My question is how I can get the embedded slide show to work on Android, iPhone and iPad? I just redid a website embedding a PicasWeb album for a club with the monthly contest winners, and it was working perfect until I pulled it up on a phone. PLUG IN NOT SUPPORTED!!!! ARGH!!!

    Is there another way???

    Here is the site…
